Pune: Sangvi Police Arrest Self-Proclaimed Don After Viral Extortion Video

Sangvi, 14th August 2024: The ‘self-proclaimed’ don who extorted a pan shop owner for just Rs 100 has been arrested by law enforcement in Pimpri Chinchwad. A viral video of the incident showed the don openly demanding money from the small businessman. Despite receiving the Rs 100, the don and his accomplice forcibly took an additional Rs 6,000 from the shop counter.

After the video captured widespread attention, the Sangvi Police took immediate action. Shyam Bahadur Pratap Singh, a resident of Pimple Gurav from Uttar Pradesh, filed a complaint at the Sangvi Police Station. A case was registered against Nakul, also known as Nakya Gaikwad (20), and his friend Akash Shivsharan (both residents of Juni Sangvi) for robbery and criminal intimidation.

According to police reports, Nakya was apprehended after the video went viral. The accused had visited the pan shop, extorted Rs 100, and then beat and threatened the owner while stealing an additional Rs 6,000 from the counter. Nakya has been taken into custody, where he admitted his guilt and vowed to cease such criminal activities. Police Sub Inspector Chapale is investigating the case further.
