Pune : Sandalwood Theft Cases On Rise, Two More Incidents Reported From City

Pune 29th August 2023: Incidents of Sandalwood theft seems to be on rise in the city again as two more theft incidents have been reported from Mohammadwadi and Karvenagar area.

In a recent incident, an elderly citizen has filed a complaint with the Alankar Police Station in the city. The incident took place within the premises of the Sneh Cooperative Housing Society located in the Karvenagar area. According to police, unidentified thieves entered the society premises and stole sandalwood trees. They managed to cut down the sandalwood tree within the office premises of the society, leaving behind a trail of darkness.

Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh Nimbalakar is currently conducting further investigations into the matter. In another incident, thieves from the Gulamalinagar area in Mohammadwadi managed to steal a sandalwood tree. Asif Sayyad (37 years old) from Rasool Mohammadwadi Road, Hadapsar, Pune, has filed a complaint with the Wanawadi Police Station.

It may be noted that a few days ago, the thieves had stolen sandalwood trees by cutting them from the premises of Kirloskar Company in the Khadki area. During that incident, the sandalwood thieves had also assaulted a security guard posted here.
