Pune: Russian Couple Assaulted in Koregaon Park, Police Launch Investigation
Koregaon Park, 4th July 2023: A Russian couple residing in Koregaon Park became victims of an assault perpetrated by three unidentified individuals while they were taking a walk at approximately 3 am on Saturday.
The couple, identified as Alexander and Daria, were accompanied by their dog on Lane 3 of North Main Road, Koregaon Park when the attack occurred.
The assailants, riding on a motorcycle, approached from behind and launched an attack on Alexander. Initially, they punched and shoved him before striking his head with a sharp object. When Daria attempted to intervene and help her husband, one of the perpetrators forcefully pushed her as well. The motive behind the assault remains unclear at this stage of the investigation.
“On Saturday, they were out for a walk with their dog, they were inexplicably attacked by three individuals. Alexander sustained injuries and received four stitches to his head as a result. We are searching for the suspects, and a case has been registered under IPC Sections 324, 323, and 34. We are currently reviewing CCTV footage and expect to apprehend the perpetrators soon”, Assistant Police Inspector Shrikant Sawant said.
The couple has been residing here for a year, and both are IT professionals.
