Pune, 28th August 2024: In preparation for the upcoming Ganeshotsav 2024 and Eid-e-Milad, a critical law and order review meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Special Inspector General of Police, Kolhapur Range, at Pune Rural District Police Headquarters. The meeting focused on ensuring Law & Order during these festivals.

The Special Inspector General reviewed the planning undertaken by the Pune Rural Police to ensure the peaceful celebration of these festivals. He emphasized the need for effective preventive measures against criminals with prior records, ensuring they do not disrupt the festivities.

Instructions were also given to hold meetings with Ganesh Mandals and organize peace committee gatherings in connection with Eid-e-Milad, to provide necessary guidelines.

Furthermore, directives were issued to implement riot control plans and conduct route marches in sensitive areas to prevent any communal tension. The police were also instructed to take immediate legal action against any incidents involving women and to conduct awareness programs in schools and colleges.

In anticipation of the upcoming 2024 Assembly elections, a thorough review of polling station security was also conducted. The police were instructed to monitor the activities of disruptive elements closely and to take legal action against those posting inappropriate content on social media.

The meeting also included a review of the crime situation in Pune Rural District. The Special IG praised the Pune Rural Police for effectively curbing dacoity cases and urged them to maintain control over other crimes, aiming for maximum crime detection.

Pankaj Deshmukh, SP Pune Rural emphasized that his team is fully prepared to maintain law and order during Ganeshotsav and Eid-e-Milad. Detailed plans from various branches, including the District Special Branch, Local Crime Branch, Wireless Department, Welfare Branch, and others, were presented to the Special Inspector General. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural, and other key officers from various departments.
