Pune Rural Police Raid in Lonavala: 12.06 Grams of MD Seized, 5 Arrested

Lonavala, 1st August 2024: Two raids were conducted under the Anti-Addiction Campaign Drive led by IPS Satyasai Karthik in the Lonavala area, aiming to combat addiction among youths in Maval Taluka. Items worth Rs 18 lakhs were confiscated, and five individuals were detained in these operations, which took place in Pathargaon Village (Old Mumbai-Pune Highway) and Nangargaon on the 29th and 30th of July, respectively.

5.05 Grams of MD Seized Near Kamshet

On 29th July at 11:40 PM, IPS Satyasai Karthik received information from a confidential source about a person in a four-wheeler carrying MD drugs for sale. The police laid a trap and observed a car standing suspiciously in front of Hotel Maval Machi in Pathargaon (near Kamshet) on the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway. When the police approached the vehicle and started questioning the driver, he gave vague answers. A search of the car revealed 5.05 grams of MD powder intended for sale, which was then sealed and confiscated.

In this operation, Yogesh Keshav Gaikwad (resident of Kambre, Maval) and Narayan Sopan Dabhade (resident of Jambhul, Maval) were arrested, and their four-wheeler was also confiscated. Police Constable Amol Nanaware reported the incident to the Kamshet Police Station, and a case has been registered under BNS Section 3(5) and the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985. Police Inspector Ravindra Patil from Kamshet Police Station is investigating the matter further.

Raid in Lonavala Seizes 7.01 Grams of MD

On 30th July 2024, IPS Satyasai Karthik and his team conducted a raid in the Nangargaon area under the jurisdiction of the Lonavala City Police Station, based on information from a confidential source. During the raid, they arrested Shah Rukh Aslam Shaikh (resident of Keware Wasahat, Maval), Nitin Bharat Kalekar (resident of Keware Wasahat, Maval), and Sajid Akbar Shaikh (resident of Lonavala).

These accused were found carrying 7.01 grams of MD drugs on their KTM Duke bike, which were intended for sale. The bike and drugs were seized. Police Constable Subhash Shinde reported the incident to the Lonavala City Police Station. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985. Police Sub-Inspector Rohan Patil from the Lonavala City Police Station is investigating the matter further.

In both these raids, a total of MD drugs worth Rs 1,22,210 were seized, along with a four-wheeler and a bike. The total value of the confiscated items was Rs 18,25,000. Both cases are being investigated further.

This double action took place under the guidance of Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh and Additional Superintendent of Police Ramesh Chopade. The team included Assistant Superintendent of Police Satyasai Karthik, Police Sub-Inspector Shubham Chavan, and Police Constables Nitesh (Bunty) Kawade, Ankush Naykude, Datta Shinde, Ganesh Yelwande, Subhash Shinde, Ankush Pawar, Amol Nanaware, Mahesh Thorat, Ganesh Thakur, and Pratik Kale.
