Pune Rural Police Crack Down On Robbery Gang, Recover Stolen Valuables Worth Rs 76 Lakh

Baramati/Pune, 21st August 2023: In a significant breakthrough, the District Rural Police have arrested a gang of robbers responsible for assaulting a woman and making away with valuables worth about Rs one crore. The robbers had targeted the house after consulting an astrologer in April.

Following relentless investigative efforts, the police have identified and arrested the following individuals: Sachin Ashok Jagdhane (residing in Gunawadi, Baramati), Raiba Tanaji Chavan (from Shetphal Haveli, Indapur), Ravindra Shivaji Bhosale (from Niravagaj, Baramati), Duryodhan alias Deepak alias Pappu Dhanaji Jadhav (from Phaltan), Nitin Arjun More (based in Dharmapuri, Malshiras, Solapur District), and Ramchandra Vaman Chavan (originally from Andrud, Phaltan, Satara District; currently residing in Vaduj, Khatav District, Satara District).

The criminal activities were orchestrated by Sachin Jagadhane, who had obtained information about Sagar Gofane, an individual engaged in land transactions involving substantial funds. On April 21, 2023, the gang targeted Gofane’s wife Trupti who was in the house in Devkatenagar area of Baramati, subjecting her to brutal assault and making off with a significant sum of money and valuable items. Gofane had gone for pilgrimage to Tirupati Balaji and Trupti was in the house with her two kids.

The haul included cash totaling Rs 95 lakh 30 thousand, jewelry worth Rs 11 lakh 60 thousand, three mobile phones, and additional cash totaling Rs 1 crore 7 lakh. An FIR was registered in this regard at Baramati Taluka police station.

The investigation, under the guidance of Special Inspector General of Police (Kolhapur range) Sunil Phulari, remained consistent and determined. Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal meticulously pieced together the puzzle through technical analysis and confidential information, ultimately leading to the arrest of each suspect.

The relentless efforts of the police bore fruit, resulting in the recovery of a substantial portion of the stolen assets—Rs 76 lakh 32 thousand in cash and jewelry.

Under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Anand Bhoite and Sub Divisional Police Officer Ganesh Ingle, the investigation team, including Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar, Netaji Gandhare, Rahul Gawde, Abhijit Sawant, Pradeep Chaudhary, and others, worked cohesively to crack this case.

The collaborative efforts of these dedicated officers, including Nilesh Shinde, Amol Shedge, Balasaheb Khadke, Sandeep Ware, Dheeraj Jadhav, Akshay Navale, and others.
