Pune RTO Cracks Down on Overcharging by Private Transporters, Urges Passengers to Report Violations on WhatsApp
Pune, 7th September 2024: If the fare is charged 50 per cent more than the fixed per km price by the private transport vehicles or more than 1.5 times the fare of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Pune has requested to register a complaint on e-mail address; [email protected] or WhatsApp number 8275330101.
Pune RTO is conducting a campaign on inspection and arbitrary fare collection till September 30 to curb the trend of overcharging passengers by private transporters to maintain road safety.
Taking into consideration the fares of the MSRTC, the maximum fare of private buses for the category should not be more than 1.5 times the fare of the ST buses. The government issued the said decision on April 27, 2018, to determine the maximum fare.
Strict action will be taken against private travel and buses charging more than the fare fixed by the government. The RTO Pune has also informed us that the tickets are charged as per the rules.
