Pune 13th Sept 2023: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) Pune has appealed to people to complain about private transport vehicles that have started overcharging fare ahead of festive season. The RTO officials have also appealed to the transport vehicles to follow norms and charge fare only as per the rule and warned of action for violation.

The RTO officials said that the private vehicles are allowed to charge 50% higher fare than the fare charged by the Maharashtra Road State Transport Corporation (MSRTC) vehicles. Any vehicle found charging more fare than this can be punished as per the rule by the RTO. The officials claim that several complaints regarding overcharging are received during the festive season as the travel agencies increase fare after the demand increases.

The citizens can call RTO on 020-26057070 or 020-2658090 during the official hours to complain about overcharging issues and any other problem faced during their travel. The complaints can also be mailed on [email protected]. The RTO has also appealed to the travel agencies to maintain their vehicles, keep the documents clear and get their vehicles inspected to avoid any untoward incident.
