Pune: Rs 5,000 Fine To Be Deducted From Government Staff Salary For Not Providing Services To People On Time

Pune, 27th July 2022: Maharashtra State Commissioner for Right to Services Dilip Shinde informed that “Officials in revenue and other government offices should take decisions on citizens’ service applications within time limits. If the service is not rendered in time, a fine of up to Rs five thousand will be levied from the salary of that officer.”

Shinde warned that if the appellate authorities do not decide on the appeal in time, they may also face penal and disciplinary action.

 

A review meeting of all departments in the district regarding the implementation of the Maharashtra State Public Service Rights Act-2015 was held at the Collector’s office under the chairmanship of Shinde. Chief officers of various departments along with Pune District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh were present on this occasion.

 

Commissioner Shinde informed that citizens have been given the right to get services by law. Officials should note that citizens get services on time. Shinde also advised to train the concerned officials regarding this law. It is mandatory to put up the boards of the concerned officers in the offices and it is also mandatory to provide information on the website and portal of the department.

 

The Revenue Department has made 40 services available online and the plan is to make 59 more services online. At present this facility is running through one thousand 432 Maha e-Seva centres. The required 781 centres will be started within a month.

 

Collector Dr Deshmukh said there is a large number of downloads of 7/12 land extracts and other archives online and more than 12 lakh modifications have been approved to date.

“In government offices, it is mandatory to provide the services required by law to the citizens in a transparent manner, promptly and within time limits. All officers should pay attention to this for successful implementation of the law,” said Shinde.
