Pune: Rs 17.75 Lakh Cash Confiscated at Urse Toll Plaza in Maval Taluka

Maval, 25th October 2024: With the implementation of the code of conduct for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, patrolling is being done by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Police Administration at various locations across Maharashtra, including the Maval Constituency. A static surveillance team seized Rs 17.75 lakh in cash from a car at the Urse Toll Plaza area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Shirgaon Police Station, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. The car’s driver, Piyush Jakhodia (age 34), was detained.

The car, travelling from Khopoli to Pune, was inspected at the Urse Toll Naka in the Shirgaon Police Station limits in Maval. During the check, cash was found in the vehicle. When questioned, the driver claimed he was involved in the textile business and was heading to Pune for Diwali shopping. However, due to discrepancies found during the investigation, the cash was confiscated. Maval Tehsildar Vikram Deshmukh confirmed that the seized amount has been handed over to the Income Tax Department.
