Pune, 31st October 2023: In a shocking incident, Pune Government Railway Police (GRP) has registered a case (695/2023) against Railway Protection Force (RPF) Head Constable Anil Pawar of Pune post for the alleged confinement and rape of a minor girl.

The charges include sections 342, 450, 384, 376, 376(2)(N), 506, 34(c) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 4, 6, 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at GRP Thana Pune.

The case came to light on October 30, 2023, when GRP Pune received information about the involvement of HC Anil Pawar in the harassment and rape of a 17-year-old girl from Chattisgarh. The victim had reportedly run away from home with her boyfriend on September 9, 2023, arriving at Pune station on September 12, 2023.

HC Anil Pawar allegedly contacted the couple and took them to the premises of the NGO “Siddharth Multipurpose Society” in the Tadiwala Road area, ostensibly for rescue and assistance. It is reported that Anil Pawar, along with an accomplice named Kamlesh Tiwari, illegally confined and raped the minor girl from September 12, 2023, to September 17, 2023.

The NGO, Siddharth Multipurpose Society, illegally operating from a Railway quarter in Tadiwala Road area, is said to be registered in the name of Anil Pawar’s brother-in-law.

The victim’s boyfriend paid Rs 6000 to HC Anil Pawar to hand over the girl to her parents. In light of the grave nature of the allegations, GRP has sealed the premises of the NGO.

“HC Anil Pawar has been suspended. The in-charge Inspector is also under suspension for poor supervision”, Ramdas Bhise, divisional commercial manager and PRO of Pune rail division, told Punekar News.

To investigate procedural lapses and staff involvement, Assistant Security Commissioner PK Das has been nominated for further inquiry. He has also been tasked with verifying the antecedents of the NGO where this heinous crime took place.
