Pune Road Rage Horror: Couple Brutally Attacked by Six Men, Woman Kicked and Car Smashed

Reported by Mubarak Ansari
Pashan, 21st April 2025: A routine drive home after dinner turned into a nightmare for a couple in Pune, as a violent road rage incident near Pashan Circle left the husband in the ICU and the wife traumatized, nursing multiple injuries. The shocking episode, which unfolded late on the night of April 18, has raised serious questions about public apathy and urban safety.
According to the FIR filed at Chaturshringi police station, Ketaki Bhujbal and her husband Amaldev PVK Raman were returning from Mukund Nagar around 11 PM when they encountered two allegedly drunk men on an Activa scooter. The scooter blocked their car repeatedly, forcing Amal to honk. This seemingly minor act triggered a cascade of violence.
“The rider started banging on our car window, demanding to know why we honked,” Ketaki posted on Instagram. “They blocked our car for about 20 metres. When we stopped and tried to ask what the issue was, the man became extremely aggressive and started attacking my husband.”
As Amaldev tried to defend himself, the situation escalated. “Out of nowhere, four more men joined in. Two held him while others hit him with stones and sticks,” she said. “When I tried to intervene, one of them kicked me in the stomach and struck me in the face.”
The mob then turned on the couple’s car, smashing windows and headlights with large stones. In the chaos, a stone thrown into the car injured both Amaldev and Ketaki. “Amal’s nose was fractured, his ear was injured, and he had to be admitted to the ICU at Sai Shree Hospital in Aundh,” Ketaki said. “I’ve been left with stomach swelling, confirmed in my sonography report.”
A bystander captured a short video showing the violent scene. “People were watching from their vehicles, recording us being beaten up. No one came to help. That’s what hurts the most,” she said, visibly shaken. “What has happened to our society?”
Ketaki, a lifelong resident of the area, says she has been left terrified by the incident. “Everyone here knows me. I was always so confident and free — now I can’t even step outside without fear. I keep checking the door multiple times. It’s like I’m living in a nightmare.”
Based on a complaint, an FIR has been registered against the unidentified assailants under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) — 118(1), 126(2), 115(2), 352, 324(4), 3(5) — and other sections of the Maharashtra Police Act.
