Dhanori, 22nd October 2024: Residents in Dhanori have been grappling with a persistent water shortage for the past five months. Complaints about low water pressure and erratic supply have been piling up, yet little progress has been made, leaving locals frustrated.

According to a water department official, frequent power outages at the Bhama Askhed pumping station are the primary cause of the irregular supply. “The power failures are causing disruptions, but we are taking necessary steps to address the issue,” the official assured.

Anil Tingre, former corporator from Dhanori, voiced his concern over the worsening situation. “The entire water distribution system in our area has collapsed. While some nearby areas are getting a regular supply, Dhanori, which is the first to receive water from the dam, is struggling daily. Despite filing numerous complaints, we’ve seen no improvement. We are left with no other choice but to protest against this negligence,” said Tingre.

Dhanori, along with Lohegaon, Kharadi, and Viman Nagar, depends on water supplied by the Bhama Askhed project. Tingre added, “There are three overhead tanks serving the Dhanori area. While the area requires about 12-15 MLD (Million Litres per Day), we’re only receiving around 7-8 MLD.”

Another resident shared his frustration, “Our daily routines are severely disrupted due to the erratic water supply. Despite approaching the ward office numerous times, nothing has been done to improve the situation.”

Residents have warned they will stage a protest if the situation does not improve within a week.

Shubham Ghatkar, a senior engineer from the Bundgarden water department, acknowledged the ongoing challenges. “The power issues at the Bhama Askhed pumping station have been affecting water supply to Dhanori. We’re working to resolve the problem as soon as possible,” he said.
