Pune Records 27% Rain Deficit, Hingoli Records Highest Deficit In Maharashtra

Pune 11th July 2023: Delayed monsoon and less rainfall has increased the rain deficit in Pune and other parts of Maharashtra. According to the latest information shared by IMD, Pune has recorded 27% rain deficit this year according to the rainfall reported between June 1 and July 10.

According to IMD officials, 209.6 mm rainfall has been recorded in the Pune district during this period while the normal rainfall expected for the district was 286.4 mm.

The situation is not different in other districts of Maharashtra as majority of the districts have recorded high rain deficit this year. According to official data, Hingoli with 83% rain deficit has recorded highest deficit in the state followed by Sangli with 72% and Akola with 68% rain deficit.

According to IMD officials, only a few districts have recorded surplus rainfall in the state so far this year. This includea Palghar that recorded 39% surplus rainfall while Suburban Mumbai recorded 24% surplus rain and Thane recorded 20% surplus rainfall this year.
