Pune: Rape Accused Arrested After 12 Years

Pune, January 2, 2021: A rape accused is nabbed after over a decade by the Wanowrie Police. The accused had absconded after his involvement in a criminal offence case of kidnapping and raping a minor girl in the pretext of marriage.

 

The accused is identified as Avinash Ughade (35) of Nashik was at large for 12 years. An FIR against him was registered at Wanowrie police station in 2008. Two other accused in this case were arrested in 2008, however, Ughade was absconding. One of the accused Mukesh Chavan had lured the minor girl away and also tortured her in Nashik. Chavan and Nagesh Kamble were the two who were arrested in 2008 in connection with the case. But their accomplice had been a fugitive for twelve years in the open.

 

Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Pradip Gurav of Wanowrie Police Squad got information that he was staying freely in Nashik. They went to Nashik and took him into custody. At that time, it was concluded that his name was Avinash alias Abhijit Ughade. He is brought into custody and action has been taken against him.

 

Under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Namdev Chavan, East Regional Deputy Commissioner of Police Namrata Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Galande, a team of Senior Inspector of Police Krantikumar Patil and Inspector of Police Savlaram Salgaonkar performed the task. Assistant Inspector of Police Vishwajit Jagtap is further investigating the case.
