Pune Railway Division Penalizes Over 25,000 Ticketless Passengers In June

Pune, 3rd July 2023: In June 2023, the Pune Railway Division conducted extensive ticket checks resulting in the discovery of 25,377 individuals traveling without valid tickets. A total fine of Rs 95,000 was imposed on these offenders, while an additional fine of Rs 21,000 was collected from 164 individuals for carrying unbooked luggage.
These strict measures were implemented under the guidance of Indu Dubey, the Divisional Railway Manager, as part of a collaborative effort.
Regular ticket checks of this nature are carried out by the railway administration to ensure compliance. Passengers are urged to travel with valid tickets to avoid penalties under the Railway Act, as non-compliance can even lead to imprisonment, officials said.
