Pune Railway Division Collects Rs 74.2 Lakh Fine From Tickeless Passengers In August

Pune, 3rd September 2024: In August 2024, under the ticket-checking initiative in the Pune Division, as many as 19,950 passengers were found to be traveling without tickets from April 2024 to August 2024.

Accordingly, a fine of Rs 74,25,640 was collected from them. 2,299 passengers were also fined Rs 8,78,220 for their irregular and unticketed travel. It is also reported that 336 travelers carrying unbooked bags were fined Rs 42,930.

Railway authority instructed passengers to follow advised rules and regulations to avoid punitive actions. It is requested to follow protocols for safe travel and purchase tickets to avoid heavy fines. Authorities have ordered if the rules are not followed then passengers can face imprisonment and a fine under the Railway Act.

The action was carried out under the direction of Divisional Railway Manager Indu Dubey and Additional Divisional Railway Manager Brijesh Kumar Singh. The team was led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr Milind Hirwe and comprised ticket checking inspectors, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Pune.
