Pune Railway Division Collects Rs 1.56 Crore in Fines from Unauthorized Travellers and Unbooked Luggage in December 2023

Pune, 2nd January 2024: In December 2023, Pune Division reported earnings of Rs. 1.56 crore through fines imposed on passengers traveling without tickets, irregular travel, and carrying unbooked luggage.

During ticket checks conducted on Pune Railway Division, a total of 16,022 passengers were found traveling without tickets, resulting in a fine collection of Rs. 1.18 crore. Additionally, 6,308 passengers faced fines totaling Rs. 37.35 lakhs for irregular travel and not possessing proper tickets. Another fine of Rs. 25,075/- was collected from 199 passengers carrying unbooked luggage.

The enforcement actions were carried out under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager, Smt. Indu Dubey, in coordination with Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Dr. Milind Hirve, and collaboration with ticket checking inspectors and the Railway Protection Force.

Regular ticket checking initiatives are being conducted by the railway administration to ensure compliance. Passengers are strongly urged to travel only with valid tickets to avoid fines imposed under the Railway Act. Failure to pay these fines may lead to legal consequences, including the possibility of imprisonment.
