Shivajinagar, 12th August 2024: The Sakal Hindu Samaj staged a protest on Pune’s Fergusson College (FC) Road, demanding action against cloth stalls allegedly operated by Bangladeshi citizens who have immigrated to India. Following the protest, a case was registered late on Saturday night (10th August) against approximately 20 individuals. The incident took place near Wadeshwar on FC Road around 11:30 PM on Saturday.

Police Constable Anuradha Mulik reported the incident to the Deccan Gymkhana Police Station, leading to a case being registered against Ujjwala Jitendra Gaud, Sharayu Parab, Hemant Datta Gaikwad, Munna Vitthal Gawali, and 15 to 20 others.

According to police reports, several cloth stalls have been set up in the lane between Wadeshwar and Roopali Restaurant on FC Road. These stalls are allegedly operated by Bangladeshi citizens who have been accused of engaging in fights, causing disturbances, and misbehaving with local girls. A previous protest had also occurred regarding the same issue.

On Saturday night, activists from Sakal Hindu Samaj gathered for a sit-in protest, demanding action against these stalls. The protest led to significant traffic congestion on the usually busy FC Road in the heart of Pune City, causing disruption to many people. The police detained the protesters but later released them. Police Sub-Inspector Shelke from Deccan Gymkhana Police Station is now investigating the matter further.
