Pune, 21st February 2024: With just one month remaining until the conclusion of the financial year, the municipal authorities are gearing up for an intensive property tax collection drive. In a bid to meet the pending targets, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will launch drive from Thursday, involving the confiscation of properties belonging to defaulters.

Madhav Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner of Taxation and the Tax Collection Department of the Municipal Corporation, has issued a press release outlining the strategy for this crucial initiative. Taxation and tax collection play a pivotal role in generating municipal income, and for the ongoing financial year 2023-24, the department has been tasked with achieving a specific target. To meet this objective, an arrears recovery campaign has been launched, incorporating the measure of property confiscation.

To facilitate citizens in clearing their property tax dues, citizen facilitation centres will remain open on all government holidays and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm, and on Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm. Additionally, property tax payments can be made conveniently online through the Pune Municipal Corporation website.

Jagtap emphasized, “The property of owners who have not yet fulfilled their tax obligations will be subject to confiscation. Zone-wise teams have been strategically formed for the effective execution of this operation.”
