Pune, December 28, 2020: After several months of lockdown, Pune Municipal Corporation(PMC) finally gave a green signal to schools to start from January 4, 2020. Keeping in mind the safety of students, PMC has given strict Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and will check for the same.

Parents are also concerned about the transport of students. “There have not been many problems after the commencement of school in rural areas. Therefore, PMC is in constant touch with the Assistant head of education and health officers on what care should be taken. Before the commencement, all the authorities will visit schools and check whether cleanliness, disinfection, and all SOP are followed or not”, said PMC Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Jagtap.

Special care will also be taken for students traveling via buses. “As the school is about to start measures are being taken to provide safety training to school bus drivers, provide thermal guns, oximeters, and disinfecting vehicles. All students will be checked before allowed to be seated on the buses. However, it’s not clear how many students will be allowed in a bus or van”, said Rajesh Junawane, president, Pune Bus owners association.
