Pune: Power Struggle in Pawar Family as Ajit Pawar’s Son, Parth Pawar, Gains Prominence

Baramati, 26th August 2023: The political landscape in Maharashtra is witnessing a significant power struggle within the Pawar family, sparked by Ajit Pawar’s divergence from his uncle Sharad Pawar to become the Deputy Chief Minister in Eknath Shinde-led government. Amidst this dynamic, attention has turned to Parth Pawar, the son of Ajit Pawar, who has emerged into the spotlight.

Parth Pawar made his political debut in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, vying for electoral success. However, he faced defeat from the Maval constituency.

Coinciding with this, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s felicitation ceremony was recently held in Baramati, a stronghold of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The event followed a grand rally orchestrated by Ajit Pawar. Notably, this time, Parth Pawar chose to stand alongside his father, signaling a possible resurgence of the Ajit Pawar-Parth Pawar duo in Maharashtra politics. The platform was animated by the presence of Ajit Pawar and the youthful leader Parth Pawar.

Parth Pawar previously gained prominence for a letter he addressed to the former Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh. In the letter, he expressed his dissent against the stance of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government concerning the demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, and he called for a CBI inquiry.

Parth Pawar’s alignment has often leaned towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), casting light on his potential motivations. Given this context, the question arises whether Ajit Pawar’s rebellion against Sharad Pawar and the ascendancy of Parth Pawar have deeper roots.

While Ajit Pawar aspires to actively involve his son in the political arena, Sharad Pawar has clarified that Parth Pawar will not engage in electoral contests. With this clarification, the path seems open for Parth Pawar’s political emergence. There are speculations that he might launch his political journey from Baramati, the very place where the Pawar family’s political legacy began. As Parth Pawar steps into the limelight, all eyes are also on Sharad Pawar’s evolving role in the intricate realm of politics.
