Kalyani Nagar, 5th June 2024: In the vicinity of Bishop’s School in Ramwadi, Kalyani Nagar, there was a brief disruption in power supply around 11 am today. This disruption was caused by a fire triggered by a gas leak from a nearby pipeline owned by Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL). The pipeline runs close to a high-pressure feeder pillar maintained by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL).

The high-pressure feeder pillar, designed as a backup system for power outages, became engulfed in the fire from the MNGL pipeline. As a result, the power line in the sub-centre tripped, leading to the interruption of power supply to approximately 3500 customers for about 45 minutes.

Upon learning of the situation, MSEDCL’s engineers and staff acted swiftly. They arrived at the scene promptly, implementing safety measures by halting the power supply and isolating the underground channels of the feeder pillar. The closed power line in the sub-station was restarted, bringing back the power supply to the affected customers.

MSEDCL has taken appropriate steps to address the incident, including filing a complaint with the police station to ensure necessary follow-up actions.
