Katraj, 11th September 2024: While the widening of the Katraj-Kondhwa road is stalled, the existing road has developed huge potholes. It is seen that the work of filling the potholes has also been done in poor quality. On the second day after the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) laid asphalt on this road, citizens near the area noticed the cracks on the road.

There are big potholes in Rajas Society Chowk on Katraj-Kondhwa road. The road is also frequently used by heavy vehicles for local transport resulting in traffic congestion due to these potholes. Locals criticized the administration for ignoring the condition of the said road.

Aniruddha Pawaskar, Chief Engineer, Road Department, Sahebrao Dandge, Superintending Engineer had ordered to fill potholes immediately after inspecting this road. To repair the road, the Road Department of PMC filled the potholes on Sunday (8th September) night, but after just a few hours, citizens noticed cracks in the road resulting in potholes. There is a possibility that these potholes have formed because good-quality asphalt was not used while filling the pits.

Pawaskar stated that there have been complaints of potholes on the Katraj-Kondhwa road after filling them up. The cause of potholes and the quality of asphalt will be investigated and action will be taken against the concerned, he said.
