Pune Porsche Case: “I’ll Expose Them All” Doctor’s Medical License Suspended

Reported by Mubarak Ansari
Pune, 21st April 2025: In a major development in the high-profile Kalyaninagar Porsche crash case, the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) today suspended the medical licenses of Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Shrihari Halnor — two Sassoon General Hospital doctors accused of tampering with crucial forensic evidence.
Dr. Vinky Rughwani, MMC Administrator, told Punekar News, “Licenses have been suspended until the final outcome of the case.”
When asked about the charges against the doctors, he added, “The conduct of the doctor is of an infamous nature, as per Section 10D of the MMC Act.”
The action comes nearly a month after Pune Police formally requested MMC to cancel their registrations. The doctors were arrested in May last year after investigators uncovered that they had allegedly replaced the blood sample of the 17-year-old driver — son of a builder — with that of his mother, in an attempt to shield him from drunk driving charges.
According to the police chargesheet, Dr. Taware, head of the forensic medicine department, and hospital CMO Dr. Halnor, conspired with police personnel and a hospital staffer to manipulate the blood sample sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The swapped sample tested negative for alcohol.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar had publicly stated that the minor’s actual blood sample was “thrown in the dustbin,” and another person’s — his mother’s — was sent for testing. “This was a clear attempt to tamper with evidence and derail justice,” he had said.
The Porsche crash, which took place on May 19, 2024, claimed the lives of two IT engineers and sparked outrage across the nation. Initially, the minor driver was granted bail within 15 hours by the Juvenile Justice Board, but the narrative changed rapidly as allegations of a cover-up surfaced.
Dr. Taware and Dr. Halnor have been in judicial custody since their arrest. The third accused, a peon from Sassoon Hospital, was also taken into custody.
Adding intrigue to the case, Dr. Taware reportedly told police investigators, “I will not sit quietly. I will take everyone’s names.” While his statement suggested that more influential figures could be involved in the alleged cover-up, he has yet to make any formal disclosures.
