Yerwada, 3rd August 2024: In a shocking development in the Porsche accident case, the blood samples of the intoxicated minor driver and his two companions were reportedly swapped, according to the charge sheet. The police had previously stated that only the minor driver’s mother had provided her blood sample in place of her son’s.

A comprehensive 900-page charge sheet was recently submitted to the district court, revealing the blood sample swap involving builder Vishal Agarwal’s son and his two friends. The charge sheet details that the samples were exchanged in the chief medical officer’s room at Sassoon Hospital, under the supervision of Dr. Ajay Taware. The blood sample was collected by CMO Dr Srihari Halnor, assisted by a junior female doctor, with some policemen present at the time.

The charge sheet outlines the number of accused, their involvement, witness statements, and circumstantial and medical evidence. The accident, which occurred at midnight on May 19 in the Kalyaninagar area, resulted in the deaths of IT engineers Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. The minor son of builder Vishal Agarwal was detained in connection with the incident. As he is a minor, the Yerwada police presented him before the Juvenile Justice Board, which granted him bail under conditions including writing a 300-word essay on traffic problems, stopping at intersections with traffic police, and planning traffic routes. His release within fifteen hours sparked public outrage.

Following this, the police challenged the Juvenile Justice Board’s decision, and the boy was subsequently sent to the Observation Home. It emerged that Vishal Agarwal, along with his wife Shivani and father Surendra Kumar Agarwal, had attempted to protect the minor. Gangadhar Herikrub, their family driver who was sitting beside the minor when he was driving, was allegedly coerced into taking responsibility for the crime. Blood samples were reportedly changed at Sassoon Hospital, with mother Shivani providing her own samples to save her son. Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Srihari Halnor were paid three lakh rupees for their involvement in the sample swap, facilitated through peon Atul Ghatakamble. The money was handed over to Ghatakamble by Agarwal’s acquaintances Ashpak Makandar and Amar Gaikwad on the premises of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in Yerwada.

What Exactly Happened at Sassoon Hospital?

At the time of the accident, two of the minor driver’s friends, also minors, were in the car. Their blood samples were taken at Sassoon Hospital. According to the investigation, Dr. Taware and Dr. Halnor called a junior female doctor into the medical room and took blood samples of two other teenagers instead of the minor driver and his friends. The detailed response of the involved female doctor has been recorded by the police. Dr. Halnor had suggested using dry cotton instead of alcohol-soaked cotton for the blood samples, as confirmed by the doctor in her statement.
