Pune Police’s ‘Surgical Strike’ Puts Criminals and Illegal Businesses on Notice; Comprehensive Review Traffic Issues Underway

Pune, 2nd February 2024: In a decisive move to curb crime and eradicate illegal businesses, Pune City Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, has issued a stern directive to all senior police officers and inspectors. The new Commissioner, who assumed office on Thursday (1st February), wasted no time in initiating a comprehensive strategy to address the prevailing law and order challenges in the city.

 

Commissioner Amitesh Kumar conducted a meeting with senior officials immediately after assuming his role. Subsequently, a gathering of senior inspectors from all police stations took place on Friday (2nd Feb) to assess the current crime scenario in Pune.

 

A ‘surgical strike’ against illegal activities has been declared, with a particular emphasis on tackling criminals engaging in and perpetuating unlawful practices. Commissioner Amitesh Kumar outlined plans for a special campaign targeting notorious criminals to bring crime under control.

 

All police officers have been directed to take strict action against criminals involved in murder, attempted murder, and offences against the persons. The campaign against organized crime, specifically targeting criminals who assault and rob citizens, will be intensified with increased police patrolling and strategic planning.

 

Addressing the issue of illegal businesses, Commissioner Amitesh Kumar emphasized a zero-tolerance policy. Police inspectors have been mandated to completely eradicate illegal businesses operating within their jurisdictions.

 

In addition to the crackdown on crime and illegal activities, a comprehensive review of the traffic situation is on the agenda. Senior police officers and inspectors gathered for a meeting to discuss the current traffic scenario. Further discussions are scheduled with the crime branch officers on Saturday (3rd Feb) and a meeting with traffic department officers on Monday to thoroughly review and address the traffic challenges in the city.
