Pune Police Sub-Inspector Dismissed Over Involvement in Extortion and Fraud Against Senior Citizen

Pune, 26th September 2024: A Police Sub-Inspector in Pune duped and extorted a senior citizen through fraudulent means. In response, Pune City Commissioner of Police, Amitesh Kumar, has ordered the termination of the Sub-Inspector, identified as Kashinath Ubhe. The order stated that Ubhe was dismissed from the police force due to his actions, which, despite his legal knowledge, were deemed anti-social, irresponsible, and damaging to the image of the police force.

The incident involved a woman who allegedly seduced and trapped a senior citizen in the Kothrud area. She became acquainted with him and took him to a hotel on Laxmi Road. There, she threatened to file a false rape case and demanded an extortion of five lakh rupees. Ubhe and three women were allegedly involved in the extortion. As a result, a crime was registered at the Vishrambaug Police Station on 30th July. Following the incident, Ubhe was suspended and interrogated. His termination has now been ordered by Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
