Pune Police Seize Rs 11 Lakh Worth of Stolen Gold From Arrested Burglar, 5 Cases Detected

Pune, 27th April 2023: The Crime Branch Unit-3 of Pune City Police has arrested a notorious burglar who has been responsible for more than 80 burglary cases in the Pune city area. The police have successfully solved five cases of burglary with his arrest and have seized 20 grams of gold jewelry worth Rs. 11 lakh from him.

The accused has been identified as Jaywant alias Jaydaya alias JD Govardhan Gaikwad (34), a resident of Ambedkar Vasahat, Aundh, Pune. Assistant Sub-Inspector Santosh Kshirsagar of Crime Branch Unit-3 received information that the accused was in the Bhumkar Chowk area of Narhe on April 24. After verifying the information, the team of Unit-3 laid a trap and detained him. During a body search, the police found a screwdriver, an adjustable wrench, and a small iron chisel on him.

Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to committing one case each in the limits of Sinhagad Road Police Station and Talegaon Dabhade Police Station and three cases of burglary and theft in the limits of Sangvi Police Station. Police Sub-Inspector Ajit Kumar Patil is continuing with the further investigation of the crime.

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokle, DCP (Crime) Amol Zende and ACP Sunil Pawar. The team included Senior Police Inspector Srihari Bahirat, Sub-Inspectors Ajit Kumar Patil, Rahul Pawar, ASI Santosh Kshirsagar, and police personnel Rajendra Marne, Sharad Wakse, Kiran Pawar, Sujit Pawar, Sanjeev Kalambe, Dnyaneshwar Chitte, Rakesh Tekavade, Satish Katrale, Prakash Katte, Sainath Patil, Pratap Padwal, Sonam Nevse, and Bhagyashree Waghmare.
