Pune Police Save Abandoned Newborn With Urgent Care

Hadapsar, 1st November 2023: At approximately 5:30 PM on October 31, Damini Marshal and Tukai Marshal from Hadapsar Police Station responded to an emergency call in Sasane Nagar. Upon arrival at the scene in lane number 13, Damini Marshal discovered a four-day-old newborn girl abandoned by an unknown individual.

Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke, a team including Women Police Officers Vaishali Udmale, Rajshree Jadhav, Manjusha Dengle, Usha Sonkamble, and Tukai Darshan Marshal Pawar, along with Bajrang Dhaygude, found the infant crying with cat’s nail scratch marks on her face. Swiftly, the police team transported the newborn to Dr. Sachin Sanap, a Pediatrician in Sasane Nagar, for immediate first aid treatment. Simultaneously, local social workers and the child welfare committee were alerted.

The newborn was subsequently transferred to a hospital for further medical attention and placed under the care of Balkalyan Committee no. 1 in Yerwada. The committee mandated Bharatiya Samajseva Kendra Koregaon Park to assume custody of the infant.

Police constable Pawar has officially lodged a complaint on behalf of the government against the unknown person responsible for abandoning the child. A case has been registered under section 317 of the Indian Penal Code, and a thorough investigation is currently in progress.
