Pune Police Investigate Teacher’s Alleged Assault and Blackmail of Schoolgirls in Daund Village

Daund, 22nd August 2024: In Malad village, a teacher has allegedly assaulted girls from the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades, according to initial reports. He also blackmailed the victims. Police have visited the concerned school and registered a case.

The teacher, who teaches English, reportedly used WhatsApp video calls and other means to obtain obscene images of the girls, blackmailing and assaulting them. After the parents became aware of the incident, they confronted the school authorities in anger.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Ramesh Chopade, is leading the investigation. The teacher’s phone has been confiscated, and police are also interrogating school officials.

Similar incidents involving the sexual assault of minor school girls have surfaced recently in Pune and across Maharashtra. These cases have sparked widespread criticism of the Police Administration and the Maharashtra State Government. Political pressure is mounting, with many calling for the resignation of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.
