Wagholi, 10th September 2024: In Pune, a six-year-old girl, Rekha Mukesh Singh Chauhan, died after drowning in a water tank in the Wagholi area. The Lonikand police have registered a case against Ramesh Balaji Munde (40, resident of Wagholi) for being responsible for the incident. Mukesh Singh Chauhan (29, resident of Wagholi), the girl’s father, complained to the Lonikand Police Station.

Munde owns a partially constructed three-story building in the Kawade Wasti area of Wagholi. The water tank at the site had no cover, which is essential for safety. Rekha was playing near the uncovered tank when she fell in on Saturday. When she failed to return home, her family searched for her and discovered she had drowned in the tank.

Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad visited the scene upon receiving information about the incident. The investigation revealed that the accident occurred due to Munde’s negligence. As a result, a case was filed against him. Assistant Police Inspector Khatke is handling the investigation.
