Pune Police Crackdown On Habitual Criminals During ‘Operation All Out’; Over 1800 Checked And 159 Arrested

Pune, 5th July 2023: Commissioner of Police Retesh Kumaarr has adopted an aggressive approach to tackle the menace of criminals in the city. In an effort to curb their activities, a comprehensive list of these criminals, known for vandalizing vehicles and instilling fear among the citizens, has been compiled. Prompt preventive actions have been initiated against them.

In a midnight operation conducted on Monday (3rd July), the police arrested a total of 159 criminals from various parts of the city. Simultaneously, Commissioner Ritesh Kumar has instructed the Crime Branch and all police stations to take stringent measures against these offenders.

As part of this directive, the crime branch and police station teams conducted thorough searches at 455 hotels, lodges, dhabas, and public places, including bus stations and railway stations. The combing operation, which lasted from 10 pm on July 3 to 2 am on July 4, focused on identifying and apprehending suspects.

During this special operation, 11 individuals were arrested, and police confiscated one pistol, two live cartridges, and 10 other weapons under the Arms Act. The Shivajinagar, Bharti Vidyapeeth, Khadki, Vishrantwadi, Chatushringi, Chandannagar, Yerwada, Airport, Lonikand, Hadapsar, Mundhwa, and Kondhwa police stations issued warrants against these culprits.

Also, local police stations set up 28 checkpoints and screened 3,282 suspected motorists. Among them, 475 individuals were penalized, resulting in fines amounting to Rs 1,22,000. Additionally, the traffic branch checked 1,129 drivers, with 496 of them facing penalties totaling four lakh rupees. The Crime Branch also took action against 13 criminals.

This operation was carried out under the guidance of Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioner (East) Praveen Patil, Additional Commissioner (West) Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner (Crime) Ramnath Pokle, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amol Zende, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vijayakumar Magar, and other Deputy Commissioners of Police, as per the directives of Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr.
