Pune Police Crack Kondhwa Murder Case in 12 Hours, Three Arrested

Kondhwa, 7th December 2023: The officials from Crime Branch unit 5 of Pune city police have arrested three persons for murder of a man at Parsi Ground in Kondhwa on 4th December. The incident was fallout of financial dispute, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Shahnawaz alias Bablu Munir Syed (55), resident of Bhagyoday Nagar, Kondhwa. An FIR was registered in this regard at Kondhwa Police Station.

The three arrested individuals are identified as Sahil Yusuf Syed (23) and Numan Javed Khan (26), both from Pisoli, and Sajjudeen alias Saddam Sirkhuddin Sheikh (35) of Kondhwa.

The joint efforts of Unit 5 of the Crime Branch and Kondhwa Police played a crucial role in swiftly identifying and apprehending the suspects. The information led the team to Bopdev Ghat, where Sahil and Sajjuddin were hiding, and to the roof of a building behind the Dharmavat petrol pump in Pisoli, where Numan Khan was found.

The investigation revealed that Sahil had purchased a bike from Shahnawaz approximately a year and a half ago. However, disputes arose as Shahnawaz allegedly withheld the bike documents and verbally abused Sahil. Also, Sajjudeen had borrowed two lakh rupees from Shahnawaz on interest, and despite repayment, Shahnawaz continued to harass him. The financial dispute extended to Numan and Shahnawaz over the credit card transaction, leading to a conspiracy to murder Shahnawaz.

The accused lured Shahnawaz to Parsi Ground, where he was made to consume alcohol. Subsequently, Shahnawaz was fatally stabbed in the stomach and neck with a knife.

Police investigation found that the accused were last seen with the deceased and they were nabbed within 12 hours of the incident.

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokle, DCP Amol Zende and ACP Satish Govekar.
The team included Police Inspector Bolkotgi, API Krishna Babar, PSI Avinash Lohote, Chaitali Gapat, and police personnel Prithviraj Pandule, Ramesh Sable, Rajas Sheikh, Pratap Gaikwad, Daya Shegar, Pramod Tilekar, Pallavi More, Vinod Shivale, Dawood Syed, Akbar Sheikh, Amit Kamble, Shahaji Kale and Shashikant Nale.
