Pune Police Commissioner Directs Crime Branch to Clamp Down on Illegal Business Activities

Pune, 12th June 2024: Despite strict orders from Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to curb illegal businesses in the city, reports indicate that such activities persist within the jurisdiction of some police stations. In response, the Crime Branch has been tasked with a special responsibility to eradicate these unlawful enterprises through enhanced surveillance measures.
To effectively combat this issue, thirteen teams comprising approximately 150 personnel have been formed. These teams are dedicated to identifying and dismantling illegal businesses operating within the city limits.
On Tuesday morning, starting at 10:30 am, inspections were carried out within the jurisdiction of various police stations under Zone 4. During these operations, Crime Branch teams seized stocks of illegal cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, and tobacco products.
