Pune Police Bust Illegal Online Gambling Ring in Hinjawadi, Five Arrested

Hinjawadi, July 1, 2024: Pune Police have arrested five individuals from the Hinjawadi area for their involvement in illegal online gambling activities. Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended a group of youths, all under the age of 25 and from outside Maharashtra. The incident occurred at Megapolis Township Mystic Society in Hinjawadi Phase 3 on Saturday, June 29th, at 9:50 PM.

Police Constable Rajaram Gokuldas Sarate reported the incident to Hinjawadi Police Station. The arrested individuals include Anurag Banjare (20, from Chhattisgarh), Dhananjay Pal (24, from Bihar), Navin Gajbhiye (20, from Chhattisgarh), Amos Minj (19, from Chhattisgarh), and Rahul Kumar (21, from Bihar). They face charges under IPC Sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 464 (making a false document), 465 (punishment for forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act of 1887.

According to police reports, Hinjawadi Police acted upon information about youths conducting online gambling activities within the Megapolis Township Mystic Society, Hinjawadi Phase Three.
