Pune Police Arrest Teens Involved In Cutting Birthday Cake With Sword On Top Of Car
Dhankawadi, 22nd June 2023: Pune police arrested four teenagers, including two juveniles, on Wednesday night for their involvement in using a sword to cut a cake during a birthday celebration held in a public area of Dhankawadi, Pune.
According to authorities, a group of approximately 20 teenagers had gathered on the road in Dhankawadi around 10:30 PM to celebrate the 19th birthday of a local resident. It is alleged that the birthday boy himself used a sword to cut the cake. The police were informed about the incident and have subsequently filed a case against the teenagers. A video capturing the incident has been circulating on the internet.
The police have registered a case against four individuals, including two minors, in connection with the incident. The accused are believed to have provided the sword to the birthday celebrant. Charges have been filed against the accused under the Arms Act and the Bombay Police Act.
Over the past two years, both the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad police have detained several individuals, primarily young people, for brandishing firearms, sharp weapons like swords, machetes, and sickles, as well as firearms during public celebrations and gatherings. Such acts are perceived as attempts to instill fear within the local community and establish dominance in the area, according to officials.
