Pune Police Arrest House Servant for Stealing Ornaments Worth Rs. 13 Lakhs

Kalyani Nagar, 11th June 2024: Pune Police have arrested a female servant for stealing gold and silver ornaments worth more than Rs. 13 lakhs. The suspect was apprehended in her native place in Satara District, leading to the resolution of multiple crimes she was involved in. The incident occurred in a high-end society in Kalyani Nagar on 28th May around 7 PM.

The case of robbery by the house servant was registered at Yerawada Police Station. Yerawada Police arrested Sayali Santosh Karve, aged 22, a resident of Kalyani Nagar and native of Kinhai, Koregaon Taluka, Satara. A case was registered under IPC Section 381 (Theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master).

According to the police report, the accused, Karve, secured employment in a flat within a high-end society in Kalyani Nagar. After gaining the trust of the residents over a few days, she stole gold and silver ornaments weighing 260 grams and worth Rs. 13,36,800. Acting on information from a confidential source, the police discovered that the accused woman had fled to her native village in Koregaon Taluka, Satara. A team from Yerawada Police Station was dispatched, and she was apprehended there.

During interrogation, Karve confessed to taking a babysitting job in Kalyani Nagar and admitted to stealing the ornaments. She surrendered Rs. 13,11,800 to the police, having already spent Rs. 25,000 elsewhere. Upon further questioning, she revealed that she had also stolen gold and silver ornaments worth Rs. 4,00,000 from an area under the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, resulting in a separate case being registered against her. A total of gold worth Rs. 17,11,800 was recovered from her possession.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Vijay Kumar Magar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Yerawada Division) Vitthal Dabade, and Senior Police Inspector of Yerawada Police Station Ravindra Shelke, along with the Detection Branch team, including Police Sub Inspectors Swapnil Patil and Pradeep Surve, and Police Constables Ganpat Thikole, Datta Shinde, Tushar Kharade, Kiran Ghute, Kailas Dukare, Sagar Jagdale, Anil Shinde, Suraj Ombhase, Dattatraya Shinde, Prashant Kamble, Sushant Bhosale, and Vitthal Ghule.
