Pune Police Arrest Four Persons For Selling One Remdesivir Injection For Rs 37,000

Pune, 24 April 2021: The Crime Branch of Pune City police have arrested four persons including a woman for illegally selling Remdesivir injections at Khadki.

The retail sale of the injection has been banned to stop its black marketing. The injection is being supplied directly to the COVID hospitals.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale had received information that some people were selling one Remdesivir injection for Rs 37,000 in front of Khadki Gurudwara. He instructed   Unit-2 of the Crime Branch to take action.

Accordingly, Unit-2 in-charge Police Inspector Mahendra Jagtap formed a team comprising API Prakash More, PSI Anandrao Pingle and sent a decoy customer to buy the injection. After the black marketing was verified, police arrested Nikita Gopal Tale (25), a resident of  Bhosari. Later her accomplices Rahul Balasaheb Waluj (27), Rohan Balasaheb Waluj (20) of Chinchwad,  and Prateek Gajanan Bhor (26) of Kharadi, were also nabbed.

A case has been registered at Khadki police station following a complaint lodged by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) drug inspector Jayashree Savadati. Further investigation is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Prakash More.

The action was taken on the orders of Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Morale, DCP (Crime) Shrinivas Ghadge, ACP (Crime 1) Surendranath Deshmukh and Police Inspector Mahendra Jagtap of Crime Branch Unit-2 and his colleagues.

Earlier also, with the help of the FDA, various teams of the Crime Branch have registered five cases against nine persons at different police stations and arrested nine accused of black marketing of Remdesivir injection.

Police Commissioner Gupta has launched a special operation to curb the black marketing of the injection and all police stations and crime branch units have been deployed.

The police administration has appealed to the citizens to contact the Pune city police immediately if they are aware of the black marketing of Remdesivir injection.
