Pune: PMPML To Run Feeder Buses For Metro Stations

Pune, June 14, 2021: In Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, the metro will run on Vanaz to Ramwadi and Pimpri to Dapodi routes. The metro work will soon be complete for the 6.2 km route between Pimpri and Phugewadi in the first phase. The metro will also run between Vanaj and Garware College in the second phase. Sant Tukaram Nagar, Bhosari, Kasarwadi and Phugewadi in Pimpri as well as Vanaj, Anand Nagar and Garware College will be the metro stations on these routes. The midibuses of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will run as a feeder for the above metro stations.

There are a total of 30 planned metro stations for Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad which will operate on the feeder route planned by UMTC through PMPML. There are 25 routes for the metro station and the total length of the route is 156 km. It has an average length of 6.2 km. According to the proposed plan, 300 buses will be required for this route and 400 buses will be required after the expansion of the metro.

The civic body has planned a meeting with metro officials and PMPML to discuss various matters, including the main terminal, transfer stations, airport shuttle services at the station, to cooperate without competing with each other.
For the terminal and transfer station, separate parking space and bus bay are required and this terminal should be near the entry and exit of the metro station to ensure the safety quality and convenience of the passengers. There will be various routes from this station as per the demand of the passengers. Also, it will be necessary to display the schedule of buses/metro routes electronically at this terminal.
