Pune : PMC’s Health Inspector And Two Others Booked For Seeking Sexual Favours From Sanitary Worker

Pune 7th Oct 2023: In a shocking incident reported in the city, the police have booked a health inspector of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and two others for allegedly demanding sexual favours from a female sanitary worker. The incident was reported in March this year.

According to the officials, the 40-year-old victim works as a sweeper with the PMC for the last 8 years and she was transferred to Katraj Rajesh Arogya Kothi office in February this year. Just one month after her transfer, the accused approached the victim while she was cleaning his office and demanded sexual favours and when she refused he threatened to cut her salary.

The victim submitted complaints to the concerned departments and had gone to leave but as she returned the contractor did not allow her to join duty. Instead he asked her to take permission from the accused while the accused and his associates were pressuring her to withdraw her complaint. The woman then approached the police to lodge a case in the matter and the health inspector identified as Mangaldas Mane, contractor Shivaji Sule and a member of Chhava Organisation Sanjay Waghmare have been booked.

A case under sections 354-a, 384, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with other relevant sections at Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
