Pune 25th Sept 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has served notices to the owners of vehicles parked on main roads in the city that are used for the immersion procession during the ganesh festival. The idea aims to clear the road for procession as it may lead to congestion on the immersion day.

The Municipal Corporation has given 24 hours time to the owners to remove their vehicles from the road and has warned to start seizing unclaimed vehicles after that. The decision was taken after the civic officials recently reviewed the route used for immersion processions on the last day of the festival and found many abandoned vehicles parked here for a long time. As a result, the civic officials have put up notices on these vehicles by giving 24 hours to remove them.

It may be noted that the roads such as Kumthekar Road, Tilak Road, Laxmi Road and adjoining roads are used for the immersion procession by the ganesh mandals on the last day of festival. A heavy crowd of devotees comes to witness the procession and these roads are jam packed every year on the immersion day. The police officials are deployed across these areas to maintain law and order situation for 24 hours until the immersion is over.

The Anti Encroachment Department of the Municipal Corporation often carries out a drive to seize such abandoned vehicles from the city roads. As per the process, the owners are served notices by the civic body before taking action.
