Pune, September 9, 2020: After several doctors and nurses quit working at the Jumbo COVID Hospital located on the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) ground in Shivajinagar, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to withdraw the contract of Lifeline agency which was operating the facility. Instead, Pimpri Chinchwad based Medbro agency has been given the contract, informed PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar.

“When the Jumbo facility was inaugurated, the contract was given to Mumbai based Lifeline agency. However, the agency did a pathetic job in terms of recruiting doctors and paramedical staff. PMC gave them 8-10 days to complete the process of recruitment, but they were not able to fulfil this order”, said Kumar.

According to the sources, Lifeline agency officials had admitted to stepping out of the Jumbo facility contract because of the undue political pressure.

Meanwhile, the staff has been provided by the PMC, and patients who are admitted in the facility are being well taken care of, summed the Municipal Commissioner.
