Manjari, 8th April 2023: A 93 MLD capacity project aimed at processing sewage water from 11 villages near Manjari is currently underway, costing around Rs 350 crores. However, the administration has recently decided to exclude Uruli Devachi and Fursungi from the project.

The Municipal Corporation has stated that the project will be redesigned due to this decision, and the maximum wastewater from these two villages is 60 MLD.

In 2017, when the limits of the Pune Municipal Corporation were expanded, 11 villages, including Uruli-Devachi and Fursungi, were included in the corporation. At that time, the administration decided to collect and process 100% of the wastewater from these villages, and a 93 MLD capacity project was approved. The project involved sewage from the old municipal limits, including the two villages.

Last year, the Municipal Corporation approved this project, which began work on it. However, a meeting with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in December 2022 approved the exclusion of these villages. The government subsequently asked the Municipal Corporation for feedback on the exclusion, and objections and suggestions were received last week. Therefore, the municipal corporation has decided not to carry out sewage project work in these villages.
