Pune: PMC Officer Takes Swift Action Against Illegal Garbage Burning at Club Kalyani Nagar; Residents Express Gratitude

Kalyani Nagar, 19th October 2023: In a noteworthy display of commitment to a cleaner and healthier environment, PMC Health Inspector Pradipkumar Raut took immediate action against Club Kalyani Nagar for the illegal burning of garbage. Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar (TSKN) has expressed their sincere gratitude to Mr. Raut for setting a laudable example through decisive action against the perpetrators.
The incident occurred on 17th October 2023 at 4:39 pm and was reported due to the vigilant efforts of TSKN, an organization dedicated to environmental welfare. The illegal act, conducted within the premises of Connoisseurs Club, led to plumes of smoke engulfing the surrounding areas, causing discomfort to residents and posing significant health risks. It is crucial to emphasize that such garbage burning is a clear violation of environmental laws.
Drayson Dixon, Vice Chair of TSKN, stated, “PMC Health Inspector Pradipkumar Raut issued a fine to those responsible for the garbage burning around 1 pm today. After I contacted him this morning, he assured swift action to apprehend the culprits. The incident at Connoisseurs Club serves as a stark reminder of the adverse effects of such practices on public health and underscores the urgent need for responsible waste management.”
In reply, PMC Health Inspector Pradipkumar Raut said, “The residents of Kalyani Nagar are proactive and frequently bring pertinent issues to our attention via a WhatsApp group. Despite some of my staff being down with dengue, we strive to take prompt action.”
The risks associated with burning garbage are not trivial; they include respiratory issues, eye irritation, skin discomfort, nausea, headaches, fire hazards, and environmental pollution. Vulnerable groups like children and the elderly are especially susceptible to these hazards due to their weaker immune systems.
The citizen’s representative body urges all residents to collaborate in maintaining the cleanliness and health of the community, emphasizing the collective responsibility to foster a cleaner and more sustainable environment for current and future generations.
