Pune: PMC Issues Notice To 1278 Persons For Mosquito Breeding Sites On Their Premises

Pune, 28th July 2022: The health department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has undertaken an inspection campaign to prevent insect-borne diseases like dengue and malaria. Accordingly, 1,228 mosquito breeding sites have been found in the city and notices have been issued to the owners. Out of them, 604 notices have been issued by the health department in the month of July.

The number of dengue patients is increasing in the city. Against this backdrop, the municipal health department has started the process of implementing preventive measures as per the guidelines of the state government and the central government.

 

Diseases like dengue and chikungunya are spread through mosquitoes. This campaign is being implemented to prevent insect-borne diseases. Societies, houses, and housing complexes are being inspected by the team. Dengue mosquitoes have been found in different places like vases, water trays behind fridges, pots, under-construction buildings, and government offices. A notice has been issued to all of them by the Municipal Health Department.

 

The health department has recorded 195 dengue patients in the city from January 1 to July 25. 52 of them are from the month of July. The health department informed that if proper action is not taken by the concerned even after giving the notice and the breeding of mosquitoes continues, a case will be filed against the concerned in court.
