Pune: PMC Instructs Healthcare Professionals, Medical Practitioners And Pathology Clinics To Timely Update About Patients With Water-borne and Vector-borne Diseases

Pune 21st July 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has instructed the healthcare professionals, medical practitioners and clinic pathology labs located across the city to timely update information about patients with water-borne and vector-borne diseases. They have been instructed to share information of such patients with civic body whenever such patients are admitted or detected at their facilities.

The cases of water-borne and vector-borne diseases increase during the monsoon season and effective measures needs to be taken by the civic body to curb its spread. The municipal corporation said that according to the Maharashtra Public Health Act 2021 (Amended), it is mandatory to report all such cases within the prescribed time frame. The list of diseases that should be reported includes Cholera (Vibrio cholerae), Japanese encephalitis, Dengue, viral typhoid, Gastroenteritis, Leptospirosis, Malaria, Chikungunya and any other diseases notified by the government.

The concerned medical practitioners, healthcare professionals and clinic pathology labs have been instructed to share information of any such patients with confirmed disease to the PMC’s health department via [email protected] or [email protected] or they can also call 020-25508474.

PMC can taken action against hose whole fail to share timely information or do not share the information of such patients as per the Maharashtra Public Health Act 2002 (Amended) and the Infectious Diseases Act 1890, said officials.
