Pune: PMC Identifies 58 Dilapidated Wada For Repair And Demolition

Pune, 14th June 2023: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched an active campaign to address the issue of old, dilapidated, and dangerous Wada in Pune city before the arrival of monsoon. The building development department of PMC has conducted a comprehensive survey and identified 58 such buildings that require immediate attention. Notices have been issued to vacate and repair these structures, with 30 Wadas in Peth areas already demolished.

According to the PMC, out of the 58 identified Wadas, 11 have been repaired, while the hazardous portions of the remaining structures have been removed. The total area of the hazardous sections amounts to approximately 19,990 square feet. The notice recipients include 14 in Rasta Peth, 5 in Mangalwar Peth, 11 in Somwar Peth, 3 in Bhudwar Peth, 17 in Shukrawar Peth, 1 in Guruwar Peth, and 8 in Kasba Peth.

Despite the efforts of PMC, some landlords and tenants residing in these mansions are reluctant to leave. To address their concerns, PMC has promised to provide rent certificates and accommodate them in future new constructions, offering houses up to 300 square feet. As of now, the administration has successfully demolished 30 dangerous mansions.
