Pune, 28th June 2024: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) intensified its drive against unauthorized constructions today, targeting restaurants and structures across various localities. In a massive operation spanning Mohammadwadi, Undri, Karvenagar, and several other areas, the PMC demolished a total of 64,500 square feet of illegal constructions.

The crackdown comes in response to a surge in unauthorized eateries and pubs mushrooming in residential zones without proper permissions. These establishments, often equipped with rooftop setups and large sheds, have been operating late into the night, causing disturbances for local residents. Criticism mounted against the administration following incidents like the recent mishap at L3 Pub on FC Road, prompting heightened scrutiny and action.

Today’s operations targeted prominent venues including Bar and Bakery in Mohammadwadi, Garlic Hotel, Highland Bar, Mountain High, Hotel Tattva, and Fusion Dhaba in Undri, as well as Sunrise Cafe and Cult Bar in Kad Vasti, Hadapsar. Additionally, unauthorized RCC constructions in Fursungi, Bhawani Peth, Shaniwar Peth, and Ganjpeth were razed, accounting for 43,545 square feet of demolition.

Furthermore, following a court order, the PMC completed the demolition of 90,000 square feet of illegal constructions in Karvenagar, with an additional 21,000 square feet demolished today. Similar actions were also taken against unauthorized tin sheds between Rajaram Bridge and Mhatre Bridge.
