Pune: Pimpri Police Register Case After BMW and School Bus Collision on BRT Route

Pimpri, 30th July 2024: Yesterday, an incident occurred where a BMW car and a Podar International School bus, carrying around 15 students, collided head-on on the BRT Route near Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park. Some students inside the bus and the car drivers were injured. The police have registered a case against both the BMW car driver and the school bus driver for the accident and for driving through the BRT route.

Police officer Shakir Gousmohiddin Jinedi reported this incident to the Pimpri Police Station. Pimpri Police have registered a case against BMW driver Arun Mittal (age 29, resident of Bhel Chowk, Nigdi Pradhikaran) and school bus driver Yogesh Eknath Khodake (age 28, resident of Alandi Road, Bhosari), both of whom are injured.

Pimpri Police have registered a case under the BNS Sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 324 (mischief), 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.

According to police reports, even though private vehicles are not allowed on the BRT road, the private school bus driver and the car driver drove recklessly and at high speed, resulting in a head-on collision. At the time, there were 15 school children on the bus. A case has been registered against both drivers for endangering the lives of children and for driving on the BRT road. The bus driver was injured in the accident and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
